What is VMI?

Vendor-Managed Inventory (VMI) is a supply chain management strategy in which a supplier takes responsibility for managing the inventory levels of their products at the customer's location. In this approach, the vendor regularly monitors the inventory levels of the customer and then replenishes the stock automatically when it falls below a certain threshold. This process eliminates the need for the customer to manually track and order inventory, as the vendor takes care of the process on their behalf.

Benefits of VMI

Ensures the right products are in stock at the right time

Improves customer satisfaction and drives increased sales and revenue

Reduces inventory costs and improves inventory accuracy

Improves cash flow by reducing capital tied up in inventory

Improves order fulfillment and reduces lead times

Fosters better supplier-customer relationships through improved communication and trust
